Day 02: Masai Mara Game Reserve
Today you’ll drive to Kenya’s most magnificent national reserve, the Masai Mara, as we drive to one of the stellar events of our safari - the Masai Mara Game Reserve, Kenya's most precious wildlife sanctuary. This is big game country and long famed as one of Africa's greatest concentrations of game. Plain game is found here in staggering numbers, which in turn supports a tremendous predator population. In the afternoon, you’ll have a game drive through the gently rolling grasslands, stretching to the horizon, intersected by dark green veins of rich acacia woodland. During our game drive, we will have opportunities to see herds of impala, wildebeest, giraffe, elephant, topi, buffalo, wart hog, and ostrich, as well as lion, cheetah, hyena, and possibly the elusive leopard. It was here that the beautiful footage for "Out of Africa" was filmed. After dinner, we'll retire to our cozy tent and sleep soundly to gentle noises of the African night. Overnight at Fig Tree Camp– (L, D, BB)Masai mara safari
Day 03: Masai Mara Game Reserve
With full day in the Mara, you have wonderful opportunities to encounter vast numbers and varieties of animals and birds. During your daily morning and afternoon game drives, you’ll travel across the savannah to rendezvous with the Mara residents: herds of buffalo, wildebeest, hartebeest, impala, and gazelle. The Masai Mara is the northern-most extremity of the great Serengeti ecosystem. Here, black rhino browse among dense thorn bushes and herds of giraffe and elephant roam the woodlands. Large numbers of hippos gather to feed and swim in the Mara River. Boasting Kenya's largest predator population, the Kenya Safarireserve is renowned for lion prides up to 20 strong. Nestled under canvas, tonight we'll dream of all wonders of Africa. Overnight at Fig Tree Camp – (L, D, BB)
Day 04: Departure
We take a final glimpse of the Mara residents, in search of more of the “Big Five”. Thereafter, we drive back to Nairobi. Then it’s Kwaheri to Africa (a Swahili word for goodbye) as we transfer to the airport for our outbound flight. After check-in, we’ll have some time for last minute shopping at the Duty Free Shops near your departure gate. Arrive home as you dream of your next journey.
