Day 1:
Kenya Wildlife SafariLooking out of the window of the caravan plane you will see the expanse of the Masai Mara rolling away underneath you. As you touch down the Mara West car will be waiting to greet you and as your luggage is loaded up you will be able to marvel at the scenery around you. Once everyone is bundled into the 4x4 you will set off on your first game drive as you make your way back to the camp. If you are lucky you will be able to see several members of the big 5 before even getting to Mara West! On arrival you will be greeted by Rose and the rest of the team and handed a lovely fresh juice before being shown to your room. Once you have settled in make your way back to the dining room for a delicious lunch that will leave you feeling comfortably full. The early afternoon can then be spent having a revitalizing little siesta while the heat of the day passes over or exploring the camp and the surrounding bush. At about 4 make your way back to your 4x4 for an afternoon game drive and the favorite Kenyan past time – sundowners! Once the sun has slipped behind the horizon it’s time to head back to camp for another scrumptious meal before sitting around the warmth of the camp fire and scrolling through the memories you made that day.
Day 2& 3:
kenyaIt’s an early start this morning to get out before the sun completely rises over the savannah. As you make your way down the ridge you will be able to see all the animals of the Masai Mara going to bed, or waking up, around you. When the sun has reached about 10:00 you will head back to the camp for a breakfast that will slay the hunger you built up on the game drive. After breakfast head out with one of the Masai guides and he will share with you the knowledge of the wild that has been passed down from father to son throughout the generations of the Masai. After lunch it’s time to take a trip into the community and see the work that the NGO African Mission Services has been doing for the community around Mara West – both the camp and the NGO are owned and run by the same man and they have currently built 4 schools, over 4 clinics and boarding houses for the people of the community. The children will take you around their school and the head teacher will speak with pride about how his students are fast becoming the best in the Masai Mara.
Day 4:
kenya beachToday is your last day in the Masai Mara and your last chance to revel in the wonders that it holds. Make your way down the ridge for your last early morning game drive and set out to find the big 5 again. Then it’s back to camp to pack up your belongings and have a quick lunch before making your way to the airstrip for your flight down to Malindi. At the airport you will be met by a Driftwood vehicle and taken to the club. On arrival you will be handed a fresh, ice cold juice, before being shown to your room. Once you have stripped off your safari gear and donned your swim suit and sarong head down to the beach and feel the sand between your toes and take your first dip in the warmth of the Indian Ocean. The rest of the afternoon can be spent relaxing and reading
your favorite book, going for a walk down the beach or playing in the pool. Dinner is a feast of sea food that will make your mouth water all the way through! Then when you have eaten and drunk your fill head back to your room and let the sounds of the sea lull you to sleep…
Day 5, 6& 7:
As you slip into the relaxed routine of the coast you can make your holiday exactly what you want it to be – you can spend the next three days lazing on the beach and swimming in the pool or you could take the more adventurous rout and head out on a deep sea fishing mission, learn how to dive, explore the Malindi markets, go snorkeling in the marine park, kite surf or head out on a traditional Dhow.
Day 8:
Today is the last day of your holiday so make sure your tan is perfect and take a last walk along the beach and a dip in the sea before heading back to the Malindi airport for your flight back to Nairobi.
